Dragons and the Antediluvian World

In an earlier post, I suggested a brief listing of possible concepts for how Dragons could have been real. In this post I will go into much more detail--discussing why the Antediluvian world could play a very important role in proving the past existence of Dragons. To do this, I will first have to examine some of the important actions required for flight: 1: a sufficient amount of oxygen and air pressure. 2: hollow bones. 3: significantly-sized wings. 4: a sufficient-sized pair of lungs and heart.
Now, when you look at the facts describing the antediluvian world, you can see how it was a perfect environment for Dragon flight. Firstly, the oxygen level was 14% higher than it is today. Secondly, the air pressure was greatly increased. Thirdly, the weather and temperatures were extremely suitable for flying.
Another thing we must examine, too, was how the Dragons got airborne in the first place.
It is probable, as many 'dracologists' today would say, that the Dragons had a set of air bladders that served as both an aid for flight, and the producer of their fire, which will be discussed later. With these air bladders, along with a large enough pair of lungs and hollow bones, and a fast enough heart (or two), aided by the Pre-Flood world's air environment, Dragons would be able to fly, even with their scales. Now onto the subject of how Dragons breathed fire. There is much controversy over this subject, for there are many possible assets that would give dragons the ability to breathe flames. One plausible argument suggests that Dragons ate platinum, and that when this platinum bonded with hydrogen inside the air-bladders, it sparked fire. This thought would almost sound possible, but for the fact that platinum does not process that slowly when it hits hydrogen. It automatically ignites. Thus--how would Dragons be able to control the flames?
Another popular suggestion is one that goes along with two subjects: the Behemoth, and the Dragon. Some people believe that Dragons and the Behemoth both breathed fire. I personally do not agree with this, for nowhere in biblical records does it speak of the Behemoth breathing fire. Yet Dragons, in their many mentions throughout the original Hebrew Bible, are almost always spoken of under the word Sarifs. This word is a Hebrew word describing an actual, winged and fire-breathing Dragon. Leviathan, however is described to have sprayed some kind of sparking, flaming substance, and is portrayed to have scales that not even air can penetrate. This leads one to believe that Dragons (Or the Leviathan) did eat some kind of substance that sparked their flames, but as there are so many possibilities, it is almost impossible to decide which of these suggestions are the true ones. After reading about Leviathan and Dragons, I have come to the conclusion that they must have been at least related to one another. For the Bible describes him to have scales like chain mail, and burning flames. However, as there are no indications in Biblical or historical records that Leviathan and Dragons were of the same species, there are many doubts in my head. Were there marine Dragons? Leviathan certainly seems to be one! Or another thought: were Dragons like amphibians? were they born in water, and when they grew their legs, went to land? After living on land for however long was needed, did they sprout their wings? Another challenging thought--and a thought that would almost make sense!
Yet I still have doubts about this theory--perhaps the idea that Dragons are born from land-eggs has been too thoroughly pounded into me.

All of these supporting facts of Dragon's existence! what were they like? were they terrible monsters who lived to kill, or were they mighty Dragons who were used for aerial travel? Were they born from eggs above ground, or underwater? did they protect their young? did they have wings, or did they crawl like serpents?
As in all things of fantasy, myth and legend, we will probably never know, but the facts supporting Dragons' lives in history are many, and it is an entrancing subject to study on, whether in Fantasy or Reality.

Antediluvian Cultures

In past blog posts, I have written about the Pre-Flood world and its environment. But this post is going to be about the possible Antediluvian cultures. Now, just as a brief recap: the antediluvian people lived in a true eutopia, with life thriving and growing at amazing rates--vegetation producing thousands of fruits covered the earth thanks to a crystalline, cold-hydrogen firmament around the earth's atmosphere. Radio waves from stars emanated through space, beaming through the firmament and reverberating off the sand, water and vegetation, producing, literally, a beautiful symphony of music at night and morning. The sunlight was filtered of radiation and ultraviolet rays, and brightened the world with pink/magenta light during both night and day. If one looked up at night, they would see the stars, shining in full color because of the firmament. Constellations that we can no longer see were possibly visible than because of the firmament. Life on earth, including Man, enjoyed amazing longevity, incredibly increased strength, 14% higher oxygen level, and larger size. This was a paradise in the very definition of the word.

But let me get back to the subject: antediluvian cultures. Now, obviously, because of the Flood, nothing of the antediluvian world remains as proof of past cultures, but because of the bible, we have a pretty good idea of what it was like. Trade and civilization was probably mostly land-based due to the fact that the continents were connected, and there was one land mass and one ocean. However, there were surely boats, because God spoke to Noah using the word for boat--and these were possibly used for trade, exploration and transport through rivers and lakes. Because of massive marine life (enter possible 'Leviathan' and other sea 'monsters') there was probably a great risk to oceanic means of travel. Yet, the land-based exploration and settlement was probably not ideal either (enter dinosaurs, giant bugs and animals, and possibly Dragons). But through all of these risks, mankind survived, building cities, towns and villages with whatever advanced tools and knowledge they had. The people were literally divided into two groups--Cain's people, the more numerous, were the more unrighteous, but most of Adam and Eve's sons' descendants still worshiped God for a time. Enoch, Seth, Adam and Eve, and the others of that line were the 'righteous'. They pursued the Lord with great passion and zeal, and taught their knowledge of the Creation with their descendants. Thus, there were probably only two main branches of culture and civilization--the Righteous and the Unrighteous. As said before, there is no remaining evidence of antediluvian culture, but if you study ancient history, you will see how the some of the remnants of knowledge of the Old World survived the Flood. Examples? Stonehenge, a construction made to chart the heavenly bodies of space. The pyramids--were they more than just tombs? could they have been used to tell time by marking the shadow of the sun's progress? The Tower of Babel--was it based off some forerunners that were made as some kind of observatories of sky and land? There are so many examples to ask mental questions of--and when we look at ancient history, it is obvious that our ancestors knew something we don't.

Antediluvian Men

In a previous blog post, I wrote about the living conditions of the Pre-Flood (Antediluvian) world. This post is more about men and the creatures that experienced these better living conditions.

Firstly, let me do a recap on the Pre-Flood worlds conditions;
There was a second atmosphere around the earth--a super-cold hydrogen layer that repelled almost all unhealthy radiation and ultraviolet rays. This extra atmosphere also refracted light in a brighter, more colorful way; pink light dominated both night and day--daytime having a bright pink daylight, and nighttime a pale magenta. This pink light increased the strength and speed of growth of living organisms, and increased Norepipheren, which helped Man use his brain to its full capacity. Plants, under the help of the pink light, grew far more rapidly and grew stronger roots, and (For an example of plant growth) a single tomato plant was able to produce over three thousand tomatoes. The air pressure and oxygen level was higher--oxygen levels up to 35% oxygen, increasing energy, growth, and strength even more. The average height of Man was seven feet tall due to all these healthy conditions, with extra aid of a far healthier diet. Men could live to be over 900 years old, and would still be young and strong at 200 years, and would be able to run over two-hundred miles without becoming fatigued. Every morning, the pink light in the morning would slowly awaken men to a glorious morning filled with something beautiful; Singing stars. Now, stay with me here. NASA has already clarified that stars put out strong radio waves that sound like major key 'singing'. This sound would hit earth's Pre-Flood second atmosphere, beaming off of it and shooting through the atmosphere, then hitting the ground and refracting off sand, until it finally could be heard resonating through trees and plants. Imagine waking up every morning to the sound of singing stars!

Living creatures of the earth thrived at this time, as well. due to the high rate of vegetation produce caused by the pink light and oxygen level, Dinosaurs, Dragons, mammals, and Men feasted every day, and never went without food or water. Marine life at this time also teemed, as the higher water oxygen levels also increased marine creatures' sizes. Men enjoyed longevity and incredible amounts of energy, as has already been stated, along with other bonuses--the only problems, I'm sure, were both the huge, unpredictable dinosaurs and Dragons (and large creepy crawlies), and the wicked men who stained this paradise with sin. But still--imagine being able to run for extremely long amounts of time and distance without becoming tired! Or enjoying the rich, satisfying oxygen levels! And what of the long lifespan? that was yet another bonus. And waking up to the singing stars and colorful paradise? get outta here! There were so many different living conditions that we long to experience now--except, perhaps, finding 8-foot centipedes in your yard!

The world was a virtual paradise at this time, but for the disastrous sin that had infected Mankind. Death was still very real, and evil ran rampant--but due to the grace of God on Noah's family, Mankind survived to see the new wondrous things of this world, as well. No one knows how much the human body is truly capable of, but when we look at the Pre-Flood world, we can imagine about what we would be able to do in our prime.

Phoenix

Another almost worldwide mythical creature is the Phoenix. There is far too little evidence to tell whether the Phoenix was real or not, but by the physical descriptions are similar to that of an Archaeopteryx--a dinosaur-like bird that lived beside Mankind in the old world. In Greek and Egyptian Mythology, the Phoenix was said to have been able to reincarnate--live up to 1000 years, make a nest, lay an egg, burst into flames, and become ashes. The egg that was left behind was supposed to be the same Phoenix reincarnated. The new Phoenix would then carry its nest, which was full of its forerunner's ashes and take it to the Egyptian city of Heliopolis. The Phoenix was said to be fiery red color, with golden tail and wingtip feathers. The Archaeopteryx is told to have had brilliant colors and to have had the typical arrowhead shape acquainted with Phoenixes. Were Phoenixes just later retellings of post-Flood people, retelling what their forefathers said about that bird in a twisted, distorted version? The answer: We will probably never know. With the tales and claims on the Phoenix so ridiculously fantastic, it is hard to believe that it was real. However--after the event of the Tower of Babel, most tribes, due to linguistic confusion, had twisted versions of earlier tales of these magnificent creatures. But I myself believe that, in some way or the other, the Phoenix was real at one time--minus the mythological fantasy associated with it.

Leviathan, Behemoth, and Ziz

This post is dedicated to the Three Monsters of Biblical word--Leviathan, Behemoth, and Ziz. I will start with Leviathan, writing first his biblical mention in Job.

"1 Can you pull in the leviathan with a fishhook or tie down his tongue with a rope?
2 Can you put a cord through his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook?
3 Will he keep begging you for mercy? Will he speak to you with gentle words?
4 Will he make an agreement with you for you to take him as your slave for life?
5 Can you make a pet of him like a bird or put him on a leash for your girls?
6 Will traders barter for him? Will they divide him up among the merchants?
7 Can you fill his hide with harpoons or his head with fishing spears?
8 If you lay a hand on him, you will remember the struggle and never do it again!
9 Any hope of subduing him is false; the mere sight of him is overpowering.
10 No-one is fierce enough to rouse him. Who then is able to stand against me?
11 Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.
12 I will not fail to speak of his limbs, his strength and his graceful form.
13 Who can strip off his outer coat? Who would approach him with a bridle?
14 Who dares open the doors of his mouth, ringed about with his fearsome teeth?
15 His back has rows of shields tightly sealed together;
16 each is so close to the next that no air can pass between.
17 They are joined fast to one another; they cling together and cannot be parted.
18 His snorting throws out flashes of light; his eyes are like the rays of dawn.
19 Firebrands stream from his mouth; sparks of fire shoot out.
20 Smoke pours from his nostrils as from a boiling pot over a fire of reeds.
21 His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from his mouth.
22 Strength resides in his neck; dismay goes before him.
23 The folds of his flesh are tightly joined; they are firm and immovable.
24 His chest is hard as rock, hard as a lower millstone.
25 When he rises up, the mighty are terrified; they retreat before his thrashing.
26 The sword that reaches him has no effect, nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.
27 Iron he treats like straw and bronze like rotten wood.
28 Arrows do not make him flee, slingstones are like chaff to him.
29 A club seems to him but a piece of straw, he laughs at the rattling of the lance.
30 His undersides are jagged potsherds, leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing-sledge.
31 He makes the depths churn like a boiling cauldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 Behind him he leaves a glistening wake; one would think the deep had white hair.
33 Nothing on earth is his equal— a creature without fear.
34 He looks down on all that are haughty; he is king over all that are proud."

The Lord Himself spoke of Leviathan! So is this terrifying marine monster reality or fantasy? Is he waiting to be awoken beneath the depths?
Behemoth is also a monster mentioned by God in Job:

15 Behold now the behemoth that I have made with you; he eats grass like cattle.
16 Behold now his strength is in his loins and his power is in the navel of his belly.
17 His tail hardens like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together.
18 His limbs are as strong as copper, his bones as a load of iron.
19 His is the first of God's ways; [only] his Maker can draw His sword [against him].
20 For the mountains bear food for him, and all the beasts of the field play there.
21 Does he lie under the shadows, in the cover of the reeds and the swamp?
22 Do the shadows cover him as his shadow? Do the willows of the brook surround him?
23 Behold, he plunders the river, and [he] does not harden; he trusts that he will draw the Jordan into his mouth.
24 With His eyes He will take him; with snares He will puncture his nostrils.

The Lord spoke very matter-of-factly about the Behemoth and Leviathan--are they both real monsters that await the calling by God to awake from their torpor? Behemoth is described almost as a Dragon/dinosaur-like monster--a land monster, albeit.

Ziz is the Third monster of the biblical monsters, and also the least mentioned, as he is spoken of only in the Book of Enoch, which, unfortunately, is not included in the Bible we read today. He is said to be a giant bird--his wings huge enough to blot out the sun and darken the world. There are no biblical passages speaking of Ziz, but the story has it that at the End of Time, God will slay Leviathan, Behemoth, and Ziz, and that the tents of the righteous will be made of Leviathan's brilliant scales, and the righteous will feast on the flesh of both Leviathan and Ziz. However, this is perhaps not meant literally--and instead, could possibly be meant allegorically, as the Book of Enoch was truly a fully allegorical book, similar to Revelations. So that could mean that Leviathan represents water, Behemoth represents land, and Ziz represents the sky--so that it can be said that the tents of the righteous were made out of the produce of the sea, and the feast that they eat would rather be the produce of both sea and sky. But the question still remains; why did God speak of Leviathan and Behemoth so literally? Was it meant allegorically or literally? Either way, it still terrifies people to imagine these primeval monsters. Are they real? We will not know until the End--we can only guess--but I'd say a fair guess is that these Three Monsters truly are real, whether in a literal sense or an allegorical sense.

Were Dragons real?

This is the question that all mankind has asked at one time or another. The Dragon. It fascinates us, terrifies us, and dazzles our imaginations with bright mental displays of knights in shining armor battling against them, or riding upon them--either way, the Dragon is a creature worth spending time studying. So I have compiled a list of my own theories of how these amazing creatures could have lived alongside us at one time long ago.

The tales of Dragons are known worldwide--along with stories of a Great Flood, angels and demons, gods and devils, giants and serpents. Are Dragons more than just a myth? One must decide that for him/herself--but as for me--after thorough biblical, historical, and scientific study, have become truly convinced that they were real as the sun or the sky, or the air we breathe. The theories and possibilities to prove that Dragons could have been real are endless, but here I have listed a few of the many possibilities.

Theory #1: Is it possible that Dragons were real, and lived alongside Adam and Eve, could talk, fly, and breathe fire before being cursed and turned into snakes by God?

Theory #2: Could it be that Dragons were not the ones who were cursed, and lived long before being killed off by mankind in Pre-Flood times?

Theory #3: Did Dragons survive  past Pre-Flood, but died on the voyage? Doubtful--but still plausible.

Theory #4: Did Dragons go extinct due to mankind's brutal hunts post Flood?

Theory #5:Were Dragon's still around in the Middle Ages, then were killed off?

Theory #6: Did Dragons die out alongside dinosaurs?

Theory #7: did Dragons never die out at all, but still survive, locked in limestone or cryogenic glaciers like mammoths and dinosaurs?

So you see, there are ample amounts of different information supporting the reality of Dragons--why would they only be considered as fantasy creatures? After all, they are mentioned very often in the Bible, and their fame is worldwide. No one believed in dinosaurs before they were proven to have been real--so why are Dragons any different?

Creationism

I love ancient history, particularly pre-Flood and shortly after--and I have been studying on scientific elements in the Pre-Flood world--enjoy.

When the world was new, it is said in Genesis that God separated water from water, creating the firmament. This firmament--our present day atmosphere, can then be assumed to have been a secondary layer. It is a well known theory that is widely believed and proven--that in the Pre-Flood world, there was a atmosphere above our atmosphere--a layer of water vapor/super-cold hydrogen, transparent metallic layer. This water vapor atmosphere is believed to have made the old world much different than the new. For instance--if the water vapor layer was real, it would have increased oxygen levels on earth drastically--whereas today we have 21% oxygen in the air we breathe, then it would have been 35% oxygen. The water layer would also transmit light in a brighter, more brilliant and colorful way, painting the world in a light pink in daytime, and a magenta color at night, thereby always bathing the vibrant landscapes in warm light that increased Norepinephren, which increased the ability of the human brain. Life would grow faster and live longer--all living organisms, including man, enjoyed a much longer life-span--men recorded to live up to 969 years! the water in the earth would also have a higher oxygen content, making the seas and oceans and lakes full of beautiful marine life. The water layer also protected the earth and humans from ultraviolet rays and radiation. Men had a much healthier diet, greater strength, energy, and size due to higher oxygen levels. Therefore, it is easy to understand how some men lived to be over 900 years old. Dinosaurs and possibly Dragons lived alongside mankind in peace and long-lasting life, until the world was corrupted, and the Flood occurred. It is widely believed that the water that made the flood was twofold--water from beneath the earth, and water from above. The water from above is believed to have been the cause of the rain--it must have deteriorated and collapsed, pouring down in the form of rain. When Noah and his family left the Ark, they would step out into a much different world. With the water atmosphere torn away, life had changed. Living things did not live half as long, including humans. Oxygen in the air and water decreased drastically, along with the human lifespan. The oxygen level decrease would have made it almost impossible for small pterodactyls to fly anymore, and also, if Dragons were real, they would have experienced more difficulty in flight. The brilliant light of the old world would have faded with the water atmosphere, and now the light of the sun was more dull, along with the sky, and it was more harsh in its heat. Seasons possibly changed as well, as it said in the Bible--living things were now meant for certain times and seasons--humans included, I'd say. It is possible that some species who were accustomed to the kinder old world, such as the dinosaurs, would have begun to disappear, until they became altogether extinct. Dragons, also, would have decreased in numbers, and also in size. The oxygen decrease would have made all living things shrink--which has been scientifically proven. A dragonfly that normally had a two foot wingspan in the old world would have shrunk to modern-day size. Dragons, possibly deprived of their former monstrous sizes, would have been bewildered and unable to adjust to the new world, and the hate of mankind, who pursued them relentlessly until they were gone forever. Man would have also had to adjust to this harsher world--their lifespan drastically shrunk, their size, also, possibly decreased, and the very air they breathed less satisfying. The former beauty that had been so well known was gone forever--never again would the world be bathed in such blinding, colorful light, and never again would the sunrises and sets be so vibrantly pink. The world was changed completely, and everything that had been familiar was not anymore. Dinosaurs and Dragons and other species went extinct, along with the memories of the old world's glory. The beauty of that former land was now preserved only in the words of the Bible, and even in that, it was not truly described in full. But Mankind survived, and we live now to wonder at what the world was like before--what it was like to see a Dragon fly, or a dinosaur lumber by, or a bright pink sky painting the world, or the teeming life that was of old.
